UPDATED VIDEO: KAINE DEBATES ALLEN AT VIRGINIA BAR ASSOCIATION

Richmond, VA -  Following last weekend's Virginia Bar Association debate, moderated by CNN's Candy Crowley, Kaine for Virginia is releasing the full footage of the debate so voters can see the clear choice in this election. During the 90-minute debate, former Governor Kaine underlined his commitment to work across the aisle to strengthen our economy, create jobs, and responsibly reduce the deficit, while Allen proved once again that he is unable to work across the aisle to find common ground, as has been true throughout his career in politics. The debate also underscored the clear contrast between Tim Kaine and George Allen when it comes to fiscal responsibility.

"The debate last weekend demonstrated to Virginians that there is a clear choice in this election," said Kaine for Virginia Communications Director Brandi Hoffine. "During last Saturday's debate, Allen stood by his all-cuts approach, and said he would reject a ten-to-one cuts to revenue deficit reduction deal. Allen confirmed he would be willing to devastate Virginia’s economy just to keep his pledge to Washington lobbyist Grover Norquist. And throughout the debate, Allen never missed an opportunity to attack President Obama - yet, when he was given a chance to highlight an area where he disagreed with Mitt Romney, he had nothing to offer. Allen's message to Virginia voters on Saturday was a familiar one: he is not a leader willing to work across the aisle to improve the lives of Virginians. He has shown again and again, he is committed to a re-election campaign that rehashes an agenda Virginians have already rejected, while Tim Kaine will go to Washington prepared to work with members of both parties to tackle tomorrow’s challenges.

"There is only one candidate in this race who has proven he knows how to find common ground to strengthen our economy and move us forward, and that's Tim Kaine. As governor, Kaine balanced Virginia's budget by making $5 billion in cuts to state spending, starting with his own pay, while investing in key priorities like infrastructure and education to ensure our workforce remains strong and competitive. Kaine's forward looking Virginia-based strategies stand in stark contrast to Allen's record of reckless spending and partisanship in Washington, which took the country from record surpluses to massive deficits and grew Virginia’s and the nation’s budgets. Virginians can't afford six more years of Allen's approach, which promises to relitigate long settled battles, and put politics before the well-being of Virginia's families. Instead, Virginians need a leader like Tim Kaine who will focus on creating jobs and building a stronger economy through strategies to level the playing field for small businesses, invest in infrastructure and improve education and workforce training.”
