HOLTON KICKS OFF NEIGHBORHOOD CANVASSES IN GAINESVILLE, OAKTON

Richmond, VA - Today, Anne Holton campaigned on behalf of her husband, Tim Kaine, in Gainesville and Oakton, where she kicked off neighborhood canvasses and met with local supporters. At each canvass, Holton thanked volunteers for their involvement and emphasized the importance of their grassroots efforts to the success of Kaine’s campaign.

“It is inspiring to see so many of you out here today ready to knock on some doors and talk to voters in your community about Tim and why Virginia needs more bridge-builders like him in the Senate,” said Holton. “We all know there’s a lot at stake in this race and it’s your grassroots support and the time you spend knocking on doors, making calls, and talking to your friends and neighbors that will be absolutely crucial to our success on Election Day.”

Throughout the day, Holton emphasized Kaine’s balanced approach to address the deficit, create jobs, and strengthen the economy for the long term. She also discussed the importance of their support in the face of millions of dollars in secret money that has flooded the race.

“Tim served as governor during the worst recession since the Great Depression and he had to make some tough choices to balance the budget, but he always made sure to invest in key areas like education, infrastructure, and health care,” said Holton. “As our next senator, I am confident Tim will continue to work across the aisle to break through the Washington gridlock and achieve results for Virginia families. But we need your help in order to win this race. Outside groups have spent more than $15 million on false, negative advertisements against Tim. They seem to think that they can just put more zeros on a check and make your efforts irrelevant, but we know that your hard work today through Election Day will prove them wrong.”

Since the beginning of the year, Holton has traveled across Virginia to meet with voters and share Kaine’s Virginia-based strategies to find common ground in Washington and move Virginia forward.
