Track and Field’s U.S. Olympic Trials begin this weekend across the country at the University of Oregon, but the event will have a certain Virginia feel.
Three UVa seniors and four former Cavaliers are scheduled to compete at the Trials, placing them one step away from a trip to London next month for the 2012 Olympic Summer Games.
Javelin thrower Andy Fahringer, triple jumper Marcus Robinson and 800-meter runner Lance Roller — all seniors — will compete at the famed Hayward Field in Eugene. Joining them are Robby Andrews (800 meter), Stephanie Garcia (steeplechase), Lyndsay Harper (800 meter) and Ayla Smith (400 hurdles), all of whom used to wear orange and blue.
