Richmond, VA -Today, Anne Holton campaigned in Northern Virginia on behalf of her husband, former governor and U.S. Senate candidate Tim Kaine. Holton kicked off canvasses in Vienna and Alexandria, where she thanked volunteers for their hard work. Holton also attended the Annandale Fall Festival, where she shared Kaine’s strategies to strengthen the economy and create jobs, and encouraged voters to support her husband on Election Day.
“It is wonderful to see so many of you out here ready to knock on doors and talk to voters in your community about what is at stake in this race,” said Holton. “We need more leaders like Tim in the Senate who know how to put partisanship aside and work together to break through the Washington gridlock to create more economic opportunities for all Virginians. This race is going to be incredibly close—outside groups have already spent more than $18 million on false, negative ads against Tim—but the work you all are doing today is going to make the difference on November 6th.”
In Annandale, Holton attended the Annandale Fall Festival, where she met with voters to discuss Kaine’s Virginia-based strategies to create jobs, strengthen the economy, and develop a talented workforce.
“Tim served as governor during the worst recession in decades and he had to make some tough cuts to the budget,” said Holton. “But he also made sure to invest in priorities like education, infrastructure, and health care to strengthen Virginia’s workforce and improve the lives of Virginia families. During Tim’s term, the Commonwealth was named Best State for Business four years in a row, Best Managed State, and best state to raise a child. In the Senate, I am confident Tim will continue to work across the aisle to achieve results.”
Since the beginning of the year, Holton has traveled across the Commonwealth talking to voters and supporters and sharing Kaine’s balanced approach to reduce the deficit, create jobs, and strengthen the economy for the long term.
