Volunteers come to campaign headquarters each day bringing a commitment and enthusiasm for electing Tim Kaine to the Senate. Campaign staff has had the pleasure to meet volunteers from all over the Commonwealth, each one with their own stories and their own reasons for supporting Tim Kaine. Over the next few months we'll share the stories of our great volunteers with you in a 'Volunteer Spotlight' series.
Our first Volunteer Spotlight is Sharie Christian. We hope you'll take a moment to read her story below.
Sharie Christian

Here in Richmond we’ve been overwhelmed by the number of supporters who are not only helping Tim Kaine’s U.S. Senate campaign, but who also volunteered for Tim’s Governor, Lt. Governor, and Mayor’s races. Sharie is one of those passionate hometown volunteers. Without fail, she comes to our Richmond headquarters twice a week to help us make calls to voters across Virginia. She’s already called more than one thousand local voters to share her belief in Tim’s vision for our country. More than that, she always does it with a smile. Here in the office, we’ve learned to look forward to Sharie’s positive nature. Well-informed, open-minded, and ready to share a joke with anyone, Sharie has become an invaluable part of the TK4VA team.

1. Where in Virginia do you live?
Born and raised in Richmond, VA.
2. Why do you support Tim Kaine?
He supports rights for women. He believes in fighting for a women’s right to healthcare and economic opportunities. Virginia has looked bad to the nation because of actions the Republicans have taken in Richmond. We need someone in Washington who will positively represent Virginia’s women.
3. Why do you think volunteering is important?
If you watch the news, there are people all around the world fighting to vote and for access to their governments. It’s really important to volunteer because we have the opportunity and freedom to participate, that should not be taken for granted.
4. Where’s your favorite place to visit in Virginia?
I love Virginia’s wineries. The area is beautiful and our wines are really starting to be well-known.
5. Why are you excited for this election?
At one time no one paid any attention to Virginia. It used to be that on election night, Virginia turned red automatically, but it’s not like that anymore. Now we’re a swing state. It was a great moment when President Obama won Virginia in 2008 and we have a good chance of winning again this year.
You can sign up to join our volunteer team below. Virginia Democratic Coordinated Campaign will have offices across the Commonwealth in the coming weeks and months. We look forward to seeing you in an office soon.
